I know, not very original, but the falafel's are just so darned fresh and tasty, I always regret it when I get one somewhere else. The fact that Lenny Kravitz stops by on a regular basis (as the photo shrine on the walls testifies) has nothing to do with it! Order the "special" to go for a perfectly decent (vegetarian) meal for €4! It's basically a pita stuffed with fried hummus balls, cabbage, grilled eggplant, tahini and a dash of hot sauce (they usually ask if you want this). They've also got seating, but you may need the patience of Job on Sunday afternoons...

We had lunch here last month (Nov. 2007) and it is really fantastic. The guy managing the door is really nice and gets you in quickly. If you want "to go," you pay him and then take a new spot in line at the to go window. If you want to eat in, you will pay about 2 euros more for everything on the menu (is this a new trend in Paris???? REALLY annoying, especially given the crappy exchange rate.) The "special" is wonderful but next time "I'll have what he's having..." the guy next to us had a platter where he built his own pita and it looked wonderful. The advantage of eating in is you get to sample all of the sauces.

As far as I have noticed, the price for eating in an establishment's restaurant is ALWAYS more expensive than ordering food to go (unless you're at a self-serve fast-food place like McDonald's).

This place is the best! YOU MUST GO HERE IF YOU ARE IN PARIS! I used to live in Paris and on Sundays, this was my favorite place to go!

was in Paris in October, stayed in wee apartment 4 doors down from L'As du Falafel, thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I had their falafel - actually had medaillon de poulet grille (7 eur), divine divine divine, and their falafels were amazing as well (now 5 eur). Don't miss it, I mean it!!
